Welcome to the World of Journaling
Keeping a journal has been something that I have enjoyed over my lifetime. As far back as I can remember from the time I was given my first diary, a present from my mother for a birthday, I penned my words to the page. How I loved, at that young age, the lock and key and finding new hiding places. I've come along way since those early years, and now I use my journal to clarify my life before me in words. It brings life into perspective. It is amazing how well you see your life before you when you begin to journal your thoughts. It inspires positive change, brings comfort and through the last four years it has been my free counselor, silent advisor, and has given me the gift to turn my life around and head in the right direction...forward... instead of dwelling on what used to be, but, rather to look with positive eyes at the present day, and to the future.
If you have never kept a journal I invite you give it a try. I think you will find it enjoyable, inspiring, and something you will look forward to taking that time from your day to do. Think of it perhaps as your own sanctuary, a place where you are free to be who you are, to write from your heart, to look through your eyes at life. You don't need to do it everyday but when something you want off your shoulders arises, or when you want to savor a memory what better way to do it then to write about it.
I will add files to this section with some thoughts about journaling, titles of great books I've had the pleasure to read on journaling, exercises and some prompts that you can use to get started with. My first entry here is a link to an article that I wrote that was published in Short Pump Magazine. This is a "feel good" article, an overall view of journaling for staying connected through journaling. Enjoy
